Its no secret that everyone is puzzled with the age difference
of Jason Voohrees between the first and second movies.
The movie starts in 1958.
Jason drown in 1958. He Was 11 years old.
The first film jumps to friday Friday June 13, 1980

if Jason drown in 1958 at age 11,
that makes him 32 in 1980
At the end of part 1 when a young Jason pulls Alice into the water, this is just a dream sequence,
a dream scene from when Jason initially drown in 1958 at age 11.
To confirm it was a dream,,
At the end when Alice is talking to the police she says
"The boy, is he dead too?"
The Police responds with "Ma'am, we didnt find any boy"
if Jason drown in 1958 at age 11,
that makes him 32 in 1980
Part 2 takes place 5 years after the end of part 1 (says wikipedia)
So now we are in 1985 and Jason is 37 years old.
There is the explanation on why he is so much older.
