i read online about if you have trouble connecting with other xbox 360 gamers that you may have a "nat" issue with your connection
and
i also read online that if you have a wired connection to your router/modem that you wouldn't have this issue....
--------------------------
first of all to see if you have ANY connection issues, run the "test xbox live connection" on the xbox
if you get a NAT error, that says something like you may have limited connection, then this is what you have to do....
--------------------------
on your xbox in the...
----- NETWORK SETTINGS
---------- CONFIGURE NETWORK
get the last octet of the "ip address" (see pic below)

in MY case, i need the ".100" (yours will prob be different)
once you have that NUMBER, then your done with the xbox,, onto the router...
--------------------------
to get into the router, you go to your web browser on your computer and type in the address 192.168.1.1
when it prompts you for a username and password, enter "admin" for both
--------------------------
once in the router,, make your settings look like mine in these 3 pictures...
make sure to SAVE SETTINGS on the bottom of ALL 3 PAGES !!!

--------------------------
after you do this, re-run the "test xbox live connection" on your xbox and you should get NO errors
